Simba was a Lion who was kept in squalid and tiny captivity in Benelux.

Rescued by the Born Free Foundation, he was transported and relocated to a Wildlife sanctuary in Lilongwe, Malawi

This was taken on Simba's first day of freedom and he chose to remain in his den for the first 24 hours before venturing out into real vegetation and open space for the first time.

After his long journey he took his time before venturing out into his new jungle. He slept for hours before finally sitting up and taking the late afternoon sun from the darkness of his hideaway. Within 24 hours not only had he explored his reservation, but also met his neighbour, a rescued Lioness, Bella. They got on so well that there was no need for a partition and they ended their days happily together.
